The purchase, ownership and operation of a superyacht gives rise to a matrix of rights and responsibilities. yachtCare™ from matrixLloyd™ provides the expertise necessary to maintain the safety, legality and value of your yacht.

Yachting is about freedom.

Yet over the last decade, many international maritime regulations have been introduced. The rules are effective in enhancing safety and security, but they are geared towards trading ships. Superyachts have been included inadvertently. While ships are managed by specialist management companies, the regulatory burden is often placed with superyacht captains alone - who don't have the time or ability to ensure full and effective compliance. As well as compromising safety, non-adherence can also invalidate insurance policies.

With yachtCare™, you can rest assured that you, your guests and employees will be as safe and secure as possible. Your yacht will also attract less attention from port officials, and will depreciate less.

Many yacht brokers offer management services. But it takes an independent, expert consultant to assist effectively. Our aim is to provide an excellent service, not to ensure that we are chosen as brokers when you think about selling.

With yachtCare™, you may choose from any or all of the following services:
> Safety DVDs
> Safety Management
> Security Management
> Chartering Management
> Charter & Sales DVDs
> Crew Management
> Refit Management

Safety Management

Our safety management begins with a thorough assessment of the legal and practical requirements particular to your vessel. We then develop, gain approval for, and implement the required Safety Management System. This typically necessitates defining the captain's and shoreside areas of responsibility and authority, developing systems for reports and analyses non-conformities, and planning for emergencies, accidents, maintenance and documentation management.
Safety DVDs

You're obliged to make your guests aware of your yacht's safety procedures and equipment. The easiest, most palatable and most effective way to do this is simply to invite them to watch a short, bespoke and digestible safety DVD. Guests can also be reminded of all the facilities, sports equipment and 'toys' available on board - ensuring that they make the most of their time.
Chartering Management

Naturally, we'd all like to out on the water as much as possible. In real life, this is simply not possible. So chartering your superyacht out makes sense. What may not make sense, however, are the chartering agreements and commission structures. We are here to help you place your yacht in the charter market with the right broker, at the right market rate, on fair terms and in return for a reasonable commission only.

We can also help obtain the right advice on local taxes and charter licence requirements - especially for those considering chartering in Spain. Some seem to believe that chartering in the waters off Spain's stunning shoreline is either not practical or not possible at all, leaving owners who do take the plunge to benefit from a market where demand far outstrips supply.
Crew Management

More than anyone, superyacht owners understand the need to find the best staff. Even the most modern and well-equipped superyacht can be spoiled by incompetent crew. We hand-pick only the most suitable crewmembers for your yacht, reducing staff turnover and making for a happier boat for all concerned.

We research and negotiate salaries, check qualification and medical certificates, take up references, and draft mandatory crew agreements and employment contracts. We also ensure that the latest applicable flag state and international legal requirements are satisfied in respect of manning levels, training, tax and social insurance.

Refit Management

Refitting can give a new lease of life to any superyacht, and can provide an effectively new vessel relatively quickly. matrixLloyd™ will provide you with all the guidance you need - from an impartial and trusted source.

There's no need to involve a yacht broker to find the right yard. matrixLloyd™ isn't sales-driven, and we're completely independent from any yard or yacht brokerage. matrixLloyd™ will remove all uncertainties, and make the refit process a joy from the very beginning. Benefit from our experience and avoid costly mistakes.

matrixLloyd™ will:
> Shortlist appropriate high-quality yards
> Negotiate the best value refit, and contractual terms
> Appoint designers and a project manager if necessary, and
> Supervise the refit to ensure that the owner's expectations, and Flag State and classification society rules have been met in full

Security Management

Security planning is key to meeting your duty of care to guests and crewmembers, and ensuring that insurance requirements are met. matrixLloyd™ provides practical and robust security and risk management solutions tailored to each yacht.

Complying with the International Ship & Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code can present additional burdens. matrixLloyd™ can develop, implement and gain Flag State approval for ISPS Ship Security Plans, train crew, appoint and train a Ship Security Officer and appoint a shore-based Company Security Officer.
If you're considering having your vessel brought through high-risk areas, we can provide appropriate security services, including arranging for firearms teams and equipment if necessary.

Our security personnel are drawn from the British Forces, including Ghurkha and Special Forces units. We can also provide detailed assessments of proposed cruising grounds, and vet and train personnel.
Be carefree. Not careless.
We also provide mandatory shoreside Designated Persons, give round-the-clock support, hold safety information ashore on guests and crewmembers and act as EPIRB and shoreside point of contact for emergency services. Periodic reviews are conducted to check the effectiveness of the Safety Management System, and the vessel is kept up-to-date with Flag State safety and operational circulars.
