Matrixlloyd offers a variety of crew services to ensure that the best crew are placed on your yachts and that they are well looked after throughout their career. We will take care of every aspect of employing crew. We also offer crew training services, ensuring that crew are always trained to the highest professional standards, whether for safety or personal service.

Yacht crew placement

Having the right crew on board is vital to not just the safe operation of your yacht but also the happiness of your time on board. We will work with you to find the best crew to suit your requirements.

Your yacht is effectively an extension of your home and you will spend some of your most precious moments there; whether it’s enjoying a family cruise, celebrating a loved ones birthday or exploring a new destination, you want to make sure that you can relax and enjoy every moment on board. Matrixlloyd understands this, and the need for your vessel to be run safely and efficiently and will work with you to understand your requirements and then find the most suitable crew members to be employed on your yacht.

Our aim is to hand-pick the most appropriate shortlist of potential crew members. Crew placement is about truly understanding every aspect of the vacant position so we can find you specific individuals with the relevant qualifications, personality, experience and skill set. Working closely with The Crew Network, our subsidiary company, we are constantly networking with literally tens of thousands of crew members face-to-face, on the telephone and via the internet. Our sole goal is to find the right candidate for you. Our recipe for success: building extensive relationships and identifying exactly the right crew for your yacht.

All of the The Crew Network offices are fully MLC 2006 Compliant (Maritime Labour Convention), this certification means that our crew placement offices operate in accordance with MLC regulation 1.4, following the strict requirements. The MLC 2006 came into force as a result of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Initiative that was designed to regulate the employment of seafarers working aboard commercial vessels, including luxury charter yachts that are registered for commercial use, ensuring the protection of welfare and employment conditions and for all seafarers working on those vessels.

Yacht crew administration

Managing a yacht crew takes time, and this is your most precious commodity; our crew admin department has been set up to assist you and your Captain to take care of administrative tasks so that you can focus on other priorities.

Our crew admin services are provided by a dedicated team specialised in this area. Upon recruitment of each crew member our team will check their certificates and documents to ensure validity and if requested we will carry out pre-employment verification. We will then prepare an approved Employment Agreement in compliance with MLC and Flag regulations. If required we can also set up and manage the employment of the crew through a third party employer and administer all crew salaries.

The crew admin team will ensure that all crew certification is kept up to date and relevant people are notified when they are due for renewal. They can also assist with health insurance and any claims that may be needed, as well as VISA requirements and the organisation of any medicals required.

Thanks to our partners at V.Ships, we are able to offer crew travel services to crew travelling to and from their yachts. V.Travel specialises in flexible marine fares and offers a 24-hour emergency support system. Working with over 1,100 vessels they handle over 300,000 bookings a year.

Crew training

It is vital that your yacht is staffed by experienced and qualified crew to ensure that it is run safely and efficiently. Our dedicated team will make sure that the crew with the correct qualifications are hired and that they attend regular training throughout their career to ensure that their certifications stay up to date and your yacht is safely manned at all times. With yachts getting bigger, sometimes to the size of boutique style cruise liners, international maritime law now requires that professionals across the industry become more certified, which means investing in training.

All crew working on board yachts must comply with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW) and as a minimum hold a current Basic Safety Training certificate to ensure that they are aware of the dangers of working on board a yacht and how to respond in an emergency.

Depending on the crew member’s position on board there are numerous other qualifications that may be needed or desired, from Master licences for Captains to drive the yachts to diving qualifications for deck crew or interior service and wine course certifications for interior crew. Our team is always on hand to advise on the numerous options available.

Thanks to our partner V.Ships we are able to offer crew training services specialised in housekeeping, service and galley utility training. The Oceanic Hospitality Training Centre is a unique establishment that stimulates the on board working environment, enabling practical training in line with the latest international health standards. This setup also gives us access to well trained and qualified South-Asian Crew at competitive salaries and manning fees.
