All superyachts must be registered with a country's
maritime authority. The choice depends on
numerous factors, including the nationality of the
owning company and beneficial owner, insurance
underwriters' requirements and fiscal considerations.
CLASSIFICATION SOCIETIES
Classification societies (sometimes known just as 'class'
societies) provide a unique contribution to maritime
safety. Essentially, they are groups of engineers and
surveyors who are experts in the technical aspects of
ship construction and maintenance.

Classification Societies
Some - including certain IACS members -
have little superyacht experience and
should be avoided. matrixLloyd™ can
provide guidance on classification
requirements and society choice.
Registries
matrixLloyd™ can provide guidance on registry
choice in particular circumstances. Most will
only be suitable for local owners making a
patriotic choice.
