Our Services
Yacht ownership, management and chartering are now complex and highly regulated matters. Yachts are subject to numerous legal jurisdictions: where the yacht is registered, where she sails to and who she’s owned by, are all pieces of a larger jigsaw.
We help owners, managers, crewmembers and the wider yachting community by providing practical, integrated, multi-jurisdictional assistance.
Our Approach
You want results. That’s all.
First of all, we listen. We establish the issues. We consider whether simple, practical help is all that’s needed, or whether any further legal or financial guidance would be appropriate.
If necessary, we use our experience to establish the jurisdictions in which advice should be taken, and from whom.
We formulate succinct and unambiguous instructions to ensure that the advice given is absolutely relevant. We monitor the advisers’ work to ensure that the right advice is delivered, on time and with a level of service that the client is accustomed to. Then we work with the client to ensure that they make the most of the advice given.
In matters such as yacht registration, asset protection and tax planning, one is faced with a wide range of jurisdictions from which to choose. Specialists everywhere extol the virtues of their own locality, in glossy brochures and websites. Yet, different jurisdictions offer different benefits, and choosing the most suitable requires broad mindedness and complete independence.
Some may be surprised by the levels of efficiency and ethics applied by advisers outside their own country. Legal redress against a foreign adviser can also be difficult, especially in where the rule of law is weak. The most practical way to ensure accurate, timely advice and a level of service the client is accustomed to is through commercial leverage. To disappoint a single client is one thing; to upset the buying power of MatrixLloyd is quite another.
